Medal Of Honor
The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States.
Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation
The Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation was created by Pueblo Chieftain newspaper publisher Bob Rawlings in 1997 for the purpose of fundraising to create a memorial in Pueblo, Colorado. As the sculpture project progressed, the Foundation created a committee of citizens from many walks of life to help bring to Pueblo the Congressional Medal of Honor Society for their convention in the year 2000 so the memorial sculptures could be unveiled. This Society is made up exclusively of all living Medal of Honor recipients.
After completion of the Pueblo Memorial and the Convention, the committee reorganized to maintain the Memorial and advertise it as an attraction for our city.
The Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation does not fund other foundations or programs.
Pueblo's Home of Heroes Signs Upgraded
Due to an unfortunate incident with graffitti earlier this summer, the Pueblo sign north of town on I-25 got some publicity. While the young men who defaced it were caught and are most apologetic about the incident, it caused some Puebloans to take a good look at those signs and made the decision that flag poles needed to be added to both that sign and the one south of town.
The four poles at each location will be maintained by the Pueblo Medal of Honor Foundation. The U.S., Colorado, POW/MIA and Pueblo flags will fly.
